The TELS Lab is home to student-centered research at the intersection of education, psychology, and emerging technology. Our researchers explore how tools like virtual reality, eye tracking, and serious games can enhance learning—and how these technologies impact learners’ cognitive, emotional, and social experiences. Because our research has real-world implications for how we teach and learn, our projects are often developed in collaboration with international universities, academic associations, and educational institutions across disciplines. Our work is shared through peer-reviewed journals, global conferences, and public outreach.
What do students and educators think about learning with virtual reality? This project uses interviews and surveys to explore perceived effectiveness, opportunities, and concerns around IVR-based learning in universities.
Exploring how virtual reality environments influence learners’ mental effort and attention, using eye tracking and behavioral data to inform better instructional design.
Investigating how eye movements reflect learners’ motivation, focus, and problem-solving strategies during learning activities—both in and beyond immersive environments.
